Being the son at home
Before i entered the army, I had a brother who left the house to pursuit his future or to say living his next stage in life. That leaves my parents and myself in the house.
My father has been a "housewife" for the family, cooks, cleans, repairs, savings, discipline and everything in the house, he's in charge of the income savings. his health made him retired early and began to lead a life responsible for the children. My mother would then have to take charge for the income part, earning for the 3 of us. We lead a simple and humble life, spending money on expensive meals, recreation activities; going out could be tough. Sometimes, we could be that thrifty.
Talking about my father, he spends most of the time at home. We know sometimes, at home can really be a good thing, comfort, space, entertainment for some, sleep etc, but to be at home alone, i am sure u will get bored or maybe vex? Sometimes I did feel sad for him and it was also why i usually went home after school. Sometimes, i find the time to go out when he was having his nap or maybe when he made short trips to the market to talk to his friends just to avoid him seeing me go. The good thing, he is quite sociable but loyal if you know what i mean. He has lots of friends who he chat with in the neighbourhood; betting buddies, childhood friends; neighbours etc., which make me less worried and relieved at the same time. Plus, i often give him some task to do, like designing my module projects, getting him to think of ideas.. making something new to use, helping me run errands, and judge my fashion senses. I guess that's what i can do to manage his boredom.
Talking about my mother, she had work commitment to support the family. I could talk to her in the morning when she was in the afternoon shift or when she came back home in the morning shift. As a son, as always, the first thing I asked if she had eaten her meals. Although she says yes, I did have a feeling she had not. She was working as a salesperson, selling cosmetic perfumes; she is fighter and would not give up doing her best for the company. She would usually eats her dinner at 4, it is considered as the low peak period. If she knew that she would go back at 8, she would skip her meals to do more sales before she leaves. There's a stubbornness in my family, 能省就省. and to her, she loves the house more than anyone else. During her free time, she loves to clean the house beautifully and nags at me on my room untidiness. Her work required her to stand for long hours and because of it, she had complaints on her body; aches and cramps on her legs and back were the common. As much as i could write lots of it here in the blog, I did show some concerns but i believe life for her could be better. She had made some sacrifices which I could not change but to feel appreciated that I have such a wonderful mum.
Both my parents are very happy when they see their grandchildren. (my brother is married with two kids) and when they don see them, they will still talk about them, reminisce what they do, how they talk and what they like about them.
I once told my friends and cousins on how I felt being the only child left in the
house, yet they laughed at me, why so foolish? You have us? but most of times people move on in the chapters of their life, they talked about it but won't there. I was hurt that time when i heard that but i know this is how this is how life works.
Hoping someone will know how's the feeling like and understand.
I have been surviving in uni, manage to pull through a year with pass results. but this give me some thoughts about my future. Without good grades, finding a job could be tough and whether i could get one when the market wasn't that good. I shan't think more on this, but lets make my uni life without regrets. #lookingbackatwhyareyouherefor

AFTH
I joined Arts From The Heart together with two of my friends Pau and Rui in NTU for the first year we join the school. Knowing that our life would be boring without a CCA, we chose CAC as it was the camp we kind of love it, especially the welfare. AFTH was chosen partially because our SA Yan Long did a good job in promoting during our times together in the orientation camp. Our dear OG mate, MeiYing also joined. We met our special partners and coincidentally they are involved. We wanted to contribute our part to the community and get to know more friends instead of the normal school routine.
We were first greeted by the chair and vice chair on the day we agreed to meet to interview us and got to know us better. We came in a package, want us or not. The interview din come to our expectation and we were chosen in 10 mins. I rmb clearly we talk about commitment and later we started talking cock. Rui and I were commenting on how rich our pau is and they just laughed. We had different roles but it did not matter as long as we were together, we ok de!
CHOP! AFTH COMMITTEE 2011/12 here we come.
Getting to know more friends actually worked out very well, till today I don't wish our committee would part. It was a time where we worked as a team, played hard in games and cheered for each other when we had our downs. It is more like my second family rather than my books, we cared, we shared and we dared.
I represented a business manager in part of the afth family. There were a total off 9 members but 5 were our so called seniors. Initially these 5 seniors were totally in their world while the freshie like me were not sure about what was happening. Minority like us were not experienced and shy a little so we just listen to orders. We were led pretty well thanks to our chief, allocating jobs, the proposals on different canvassing ideas and also our sponsorship. We manage to be the best so far, getting 31 sponsorships and a new record on our canvassing funds.
For the rest who are rerunning, i am sure they shared the same sentiment and feeling as me, hoping their presence will bring us together once again. I am sure most of them wants to voice out about their very own opinion about this but but, they chose not cos they are afraid they are wrong about the family.
We did lots of things together...
1. We had fortnightly meetings and almost all ended after 11.
2. When Garang Guni became a group work, without fail, some came late.. leave early??
3. Times at when guys are useful when carrying heavy things
4. Thinking of our very own highlight for very long.
5. Cracking our heads on the venue.
6. nvr fail to provide a birthday cake for the month
7. writing those little talks for the birthday guy or girl.
8. Our very own first interactive bonding session, where we had to play FOC games.
9. Pictures started to come in then.
10. Our very first representation of AFTH to CAC, where i was forced out to stage and act as a member of the formula 1 racer.
11. many were task to source the kampong cap!>
12. We were discussing on the importance of planning the highlight instead of small stuff like the games trail.
13. The confirmation of our AFTH's objective took quite a long time to settle.
14. and later we were questioning ourselves on the objectives whether we were meeting them.
15. Many canvassing ideas are coming through, Coffee tasting was the first.
16. We got the money in the envelope, but sadly we had to return to our treasurer the next day.
17. Our first AFTH main comm bonding session, KTV at Teo Heng, when most of them knows i stayed near there. 13 of them went to squeeze in Lilin's family car.
18. We had our first main comm meeting. where we see pau's add as friend tshirt.
19. We had our first interaction trail games for the sub comms
20. The encouragement given to our people when most of us are studying hard for exams.
21. Party after exam, most people can't wait for the next AFTH outing
22. GOSH it was my first time doing Garang Guni.
23. guys are relatively useful in carrying things while girls are better at asking the residents. We did ours at ANG MO KIO.
24. We met great friends there.
25. Our Canvassing funds were about 3000 then. Boss says garang guni was good, but not funds. Then we decided to hit a new record of 5 digits.
26. During our meetings, we nvr failed to stir some people and nvr failed to say on someone's stupidity.
27. Lao Ban's canvassing was great, we just sat there, and customers come, YR had done a significant part.
28. The programmers went to a camp which benefited them as a portfolio. The became more united then, haha, instead of quarreling during our main meetings. OOPs!
29. We made a surprise for Xinling's, a support not for the event but for her as our chair and representative of our identity, AFTH bond.
30. The new year began, our first task, an unshy PUBLICITY at Orchard, looking back, thinking what was i doing?
31-96. I am sure most of us have their own good and bad memorable 'thing' that makes us what we are today. Memories are meant to be there in your mind and heart and not written down.
97. went to the toilets at the swimming pool
98. The FOC was a great one, although we were separated, we are still the AFTH, celebrating YM's birthday although we were dead tired.
99. share the same profile pictures
100. We had an enjoyable time at Cynosure Ball. and Running man!
In the end just ask yourself what do you really want? Do u get a chance to work together again? or doing something new that interest you beats everything? Do u have a second chance to learn? and by rerunning, think of the happy times we had. this time it is still similar but slightly different witho t u.
we are not a good persuader but we wish you share the same sorrow some might feel.

my thoughts on a show
the show title is 那些年,我们一起追的女孩
i had watched this show for two times. One with my bunch of closed cousins, and the other one with KL, consider a closed friend of mine. Both experiences, are different.
The show was good, ranging from the skill of the actors, how the director wanted them to react and response. The sexual part brings the mood of the audience up. the vulgarities are more of entertaining. The main character, especially the girl was a good catch. attracted many guys, myself too. As for the guy she married, look a little old! The plot was simple, not much of computer graphics. The only thing i can say bad about this movie is that it doesn't have a good ending, making many still ponder about life itself and also the lesson learnt, "speak up!"
After watching it the first time, i thought to myself, I'm so gonna bring a girl to watch with me again. It's a great show with a sad ending. maybe it will touched her and bring us closer. haha! THINK TOO MUCH! Thanks to karma, i went with a guy for the second show.. Drop the subject of bringing a girl. The content of the show is more important to me.
Some lines quoted from the show, translated by myself in English.
The most sad part is when the couple are walking down the aisle, the eye contact between the both of them is priceless, cannot be described by me itself, if you have watched the show, let me know how u feel k. To me. From the girl's point of view, it's like i know how u feel now, but i have make my decision and i'm happy with life now, time to move on. You are late! I am happy you came to attend the wedding, to see you reminds me for our happy times. i'm doing well and i hope u will too in the future!
it's like when a couple leaves each other and live with their own life due to a very very big quarrel, it's more of disappointed love rather than anger. they responded because they love each other, and through this, one's feeling is heard and ponder about.
Some Lines i think it's quite meaningful
"i can bet with you, even in the next ten years i dont know what is LOG (mathematic term), i can still live happily."
Many things we do in life are "redundant".
I can say this is one of the shows that i do enjoy watching and also quite memorable to me. Do check it out.
